Chapter 1, under the designation of Magic 1 is the beginning chapter of the 2015 Little Witch Academia manga series adaptation illustrated by Yuka Fujiwara.

Upon learning the prize of the upcoming inter-school competition to be a magical crown once wielded by her idol Shiny Chariot, Akko decides to participate now that she discovered her newfound talent in Light Magic which must be honed for the task. Will that be enough?
Summary[]
The chapter begins with the young Akko become captivated by the wondrous magic show performed by Shiny Chariot, a feat that backed by an ornate-looking enchanted crown which augmented her own magical abilities. That is when Akko decided to become a witch just like her idol.
Fast foward to the present, Akko wakes up late for the meeting at the school's auditorium thus resorted to use her magic broom to catch up with others and subsequently made it despite flying out of control at one point, but not before discovering her newly manifested Light Magic. After berating her roommates, Lotte and Sucy, for their failure in waking her up that morning (Akko was too fast asleep), the brunette is about to tell about her newfound ability only to be interrupted by the headmistress who asked her to write 10 explanatory letters in response of her arriving late for third time and 5 more for protesting, much to her chagrin. The headmistress then proceeds to announce the upcoming interschool competition between Luna Nova and Sorbates Academy in which the victorious school representative will be rewarded with Midnight Crown, the exact same enchanted crown Shiny Chariot used in her shows 10 years back. The news left the gathered students excited; whereas majorities of them delighted by the prospect of meeting handsome boys who attended the latter school, Akko cannot wait to claim the crown and use it in a magical show of her own just like her idol back then. The mention of Sorbates Academy also reminded the Japanese witch to a certain friend of hers who enrolled there.
Determined to prove Hannah and Barbara wrong after sneering her for getting caught in her own fantasies, Akko decides to practices her newfound Light Magic. It's easier to be said than done as she has little to no experience with such magic. In fact, she wind up conjures a bouncing ball of light which would hurt her had a familiar wizard not showed up to save her before berating her for practicing the challenging craft without proper supervision. Not recognizing her unexpected savior at first, few hints he provides (attending the same elementary school and once attending Shiny Chariot show) allows Akko to realize the young wizard in front of her to be her classmate Yūto Minazuki. As if his status as a wizard-in-training judging from Sorbates Academy uniform he wears is surprising enough, Yūto is no longer wearing his glasses and more standoffish than he used to be upon hearing her intention to participate in the upcoming interschool competition between Luna Nova and Sorbates Academy. Disheartened by Yūto's discouragement at first, Akko steels her resolve now that she has one more person to prove herself to.
And so, Akko trains very hard in order to become one of Luna Nova's representatives, spending little time for anything else. So determined that she ended up sleeping while in the middle of reading books pertaining magic theory. Humorous assumption of her being reincarnated of some pig aside, even Sucy can't help but impressed by Akko's tenacity for it.
On the next day, Akko and her classmates partake a test to determine would-be representatives of Luna Nova in the upcoming interschool competition against Sorbates Academy with Ursula as the judge. Hannah demonstrates her prowess in Lightning Magic while Lotte calls forth faeries from an ancient vase which in turn, conjure beautiful flowers. When it's finally Akko's turn, her Light Magic demonstration fails because of her nervousness gets in the way. Hannah and Barbara waste no time to ridicule Akko and discourage her from participating further, prompting Sucy to unleash four bees she exposes with her latest concoction upon the two to silence them in retaliation, much to the rest of her classmates' horror and Ursula's surprise because of the great amount of magic the Manbavaran uses for such feat. Though her roommate clearly overdone it, Akko nonetheless thanks Sucy for standing up for her thus more than determined to convince Ursula to give her one more chance after the class. The three friends are about to discuss the cause of Akko's shortcomings earlier when they notice their fellow students panicking for some reasons. As it turns out, Sucy missed one of her bewitched bees while retrieving them earlier and it now visibly overheats with magic. To make matter worse, it flies towards a nearby curtain and ignites it in a violent burst of flames not unlike dragon fire! Acting fast, Akko attempts to utilize her Light Magic in a bid to save everyone, Lotte and Sucy in particular for being in closest proximity to incoming inferno, before Ursula could do anything. This time however, Akko successfully pulls it off, encapsulating incoming showers of fire in light bubbles. Relieved that she managed to save everyone, Akko passed out from the strain of performing such feat on horrified Lotte and Sucy's hand.
In the subsequent meeting with her fellow professors regarding Luna Nova's would-be representatives as the night comes, Ursula asks their permission to speak her mind in the light of unexpected turn of events during her class earlier before they could finalize their decisions.
In red team's dorm room, Lotte and Sucy thank the recovered Akko by giving her few get-well snacks (häagen-dazs ice cream and premium green tea). Since it's already late and therefore the professors' meeting has been concluded, Akko decides to try to convince them to hold the competition in the next year tomorrow before bringing up her encounter with Yūto earlier. Just then, Ursula visits the three friends to inform them Luna Nova's decision regarding their class' representation. To their pleasant surprise, it has been decided that Akko will be her class' representative instead of Sucy. Ursula reassures Akko that she will understand the reason behind it once she partakes the competition later on. In her excitement over such brilliant news which means she now one step closer to achieve her dream to be a witch like her idol Shiny Chariot, Akko celebrates by excitedly flying out of the window with her broom... until she realizes she doesn't know how to properly land.
Meanwhile, Yūto's roommates wished their friend luck for being chosen in the upcoming interschool competition against Luna Nova. Here, we sees him putting his glasses on for studying as preparation to participate in such event, and as determined as Akko is...
