The plan works and to her relief, the animated Alcor rests above her head followed Sucy who gives Akko a ride alongside Lotte. Even so, as the girls already on the air and Sucy introduces herself to Akko, the winged beast soon breaks free from the mandrake's vines and begins to bombard them with its fiery breath. That was the moment Ursula arrived with her broom and soon notices the Shiny Rod on the Japanese's hands in the ensuing struggle just as the beast blasted Sucy's broom into bits, sending the girls plummeting into the forest below. With no time to lose, Ursula cried out to Akko to recite the First Word of Arcturus as soon as the Japanese managed to reclaim the staff which momentarily knocked off of her grasp, thus allowing her to turn the Rod into its Shiny Bow configuration to create a Ley Line portal with Shiny Arc below her, Sucy, and Lotte that led straight to Luna Nova. The portal closes as soon as they entered, preventing the cockatrice from chasing the girls further. |

Chapter 2 is the second chapter of the Little Witch Academia manga series adaptation illustrated by Satou Keisuke.
Overview
While trying to escape the Arcturus Forest, Akko and Lotte end up in a tough situation after Sucy lures out a giant cockatrice in order to collect one of its feathers. Akko comes across Shiny Chariot's wand, the Shiny Rod, summoned by her unshakable faith in becoming a witch. As the cockatrice continues to pursue the girls, one of Luna Nova's teachers, Ursula, gives Akko the magic words needed to use the Shiny Rod, allowing the girls to escape through a portal leading straight to Luna Nova. Making it just in time for the opening ceremony and avoiding expulsion, Akko, Lotte, and Sucy learn that they will be roommates for the next three years.
Summary
At Luna Nova, the disturbance in the Ley Lines alarmed the unassuming teacher of Luna Nova, Ursula Callistis, and her familiar Alcor, at their office. Using a disco ball-like astrological device to check on where said disturbance takes place, the bespectacled professor is shocked to see it occurred somewhere at Arcturus Forest.
Back at Arcturus Forest, Lotte explained that Arcturus Forest is a forest in which one cannot easily get out of regardless whether she happened to be a witch, dismaying Akko as they won't be able to make it to the entrance ceremony at that rate and Sucy's remark of their improbability to get out doesn't improve everyone's mood either. Just then, Akko found her scattered belongings and wasted no time to retrieve them only to stumble upon a nearby Mandrake, much to her and Lotte's horror. Escaping from the man-eating plant, Sucy animates Akko's Alcor plushie once again to distract it, further dismaying Akko as it is one of her Chariot merchandises.
