Doras Hill is a special place full of magic where fairies have gathered for centuries.
Description[]
The main area of Doras Hill appears as a seemingly unassuming modest mound covered in long, unkempt grass surrounded by the forest with a stone circle on the top. The stone circle consisted of 13 big, bumpy boulders surrounding Stone Doras, two similarly large boulders standing upright with another rock lying across them like a roof.
Other landmarks located in the area are:
Sifla's Hut[]
The residence of the namesake guardian of Doras Hill. It takes the appearance of a mound with a single door as the entrance, showing that much of its interior is located underground.
13 Sacred Trees of Doras Hill[]
A circle of 13 consecrated trees is located at the front of Doras Hill. Each of them has their own magic which serves as the source of the fairy king's power. Each of them is connected to their recreated version in the Country of Fairies. The trees themselves consisted of the following:
- 1st Tree: White Birch
- 2nd Tree: Rowan Tree
- 3rd Tree: Ash Tree
- 4th Tree: Alder Tree
- 5th Tree: Willow Tree
- 6th Tree: Hawthorn Tree
- 7th Tree: Oak Tree
- 8th Tree: Holly Tree
- 9th Tree: Hazel Tree
- 10th Tree: Apple Tree
- 11th Tree: Ivy
- 12th Tree: Broom Tree
- 13th Tree: Elder Tree
Each tree has its own unique properties that led it to be chosen to make up the 13 Sacred Trees of Doras Hill.
The Country of Fairies[]
The underground region where many of the fairies of Doras Hill lived, including two ancient rival tribes Cait-Sith of Doras Hill and Coin-Sith of Doras Hill. It can be accessed through an enchanted secret passage beneath Stone Doras which only opens if one circles it nine times. Caution must be taken as the manner one does so will affect where the end of the passage leads to: Circling Stone Doras nine times in a clockwise manner will lead one to Cait-Sith's home while counterclockwise to Coin-Sith's instead.
The home of the Cait-Sith of Doras Hill appears to be a cavernous region that suggestively has a community of its namesake region lives at, but much of it was yet to be revealed. The home of Coin-Sith on the other hand, appears as the recreation of Doras Hill above which includes its own sacred trees that, as stated previously, are connected to their aboveground counterparts.
History[]
Background[]
As mentioned in Sifla's The Origin of the Fairy King, Doras Hill is a land governed by a figure called the fairy king who established a contract between him and the witch who guarded the Hill, Sifla the 1st, so they can ensure peace and prosperity throughout the land together. This duty would be honored by their predecessors until the end of time, with the name of Sifla becoming the title passed down throughout generations of said witch's family.
The true account of the Fairy King's origins however, contrasted with what the book mentioned in many respects: Instead of a contract, Sifla the 1st befriended both first kings of Cait-Sith of Doras Hill and Coin-Sith of Doras Hill and convinced the two to work together to protect the Hill with her as their guide, ending their rivalry for the sake of a common cause. But sometime afterward, the three's successors proved not as capable as them in carrying out their duty and the rivalry between Cat-Sith of Doras Hill and Coin-Sith of Doras Hill erupted once more. In their pride, both tribes gradually forgot the fact that the title of fairy king was carried by three people working as one and believed such a title was meant to be bequeathed by the most capable of either tribe's leader instead. This was further exacerbated by old magical families who misinterpreted Sifla's story and dynamic with the so-called fairy king as one between a witch/wizard with his/her Familiar as well as forgotten/dismissed her belief that magic exists to bring smile upon everyone in addition of part of tradition, though the only aspect that remained consistent was the succession of Sifla title.
Little Witch Academia: The Nonsensical Witch and the Country of Fairies[]
Led by Finnelan and Ursula, Akko and her classmates are visiting Doras Hill and its guardian Sifla. The visit, however, is met with complications as the newest heir of the mythical witch, a 6-year-old who lived by herself following her grandmother and immediate predecessor's passing, refuses to talk to anyone for some reason. This worries Akko so much that she, alongside Lotte and Sucy, decides to talk to her on their behalf. It is after Lotte finally bonds with the new Sifla that the Guardian of Doras Hill confides to them about her predicament; her friends Feoras and Alan have left for the Country of Fairies and have yet to return, which doesn't help her mourning. So, the three friends set out to bring Feoras and Alan back, but not before Sifla entrusted Akko with one of her willow bracelets.
Bringing back Feoras and Alan is easier said than done, however. In addition to Cait-Sith and Coin-Sith's mutual rivalry toward each other and mistrust toward outsiders, Akko and Co. learn that the two's departure was because they were summoned by their people to be their latest rulers. The two are also contrasted with one another personality-wise; Feoras is the pompous and short-temper Cat-Sith who nonetheless takes his newfound responsibility seriously, while Alan the Cu-Sith is too lazy to do the same despite being just as capable. In a bid to ensure both newly coronated rulers of Doras Hill return to Sifla, Akko willingly participates in the trial to determine the would-be heir of Fairy King upon Alan's suggestion, which Feoras agrees begrudgingly, expecting he will likely clean up everyone's mess as usual. The urgency to complete the trial becomes apparent when Alan finally reveals the truth; no one has managed to succeed the original fairy king in the past three centuries and before then, the hill was a more peaceful place.
Over the course of the trial for the title of Fairy King which involves reviving the Hil's Sacred Trees, Feoras, Alan, Akko, Lotte, Sucy, Amanda, Constanze, and Jasminka gain more and more insight regarding the previous Fairy King. While reviving ash and alder trees, Akko manages to contact the current Sifla of her friends' circumstances and what they learned so far through the magical link between their shared willow bracelets, including the vision regarding the original Sifla and previous kings of Cait-Sith and Coin-Sith. Because the link between their bracelets unexpectedly severed due to running out of power, the group has no choice but to continue. Upon receiving another vision concerning the original Sifla and Feoras and Alan's predecessors in which the title of fairy king is shared by three people instead of one (a Sifla, a Cat-Sith king, and a Cu-Sith king) in courtesy of a potion mixed with powdered trunk extract of Doras Hill's hawthorn tree, Akko can't help but anxious from sensing Feoras and Alan's denial over the truth and the worst possible outcome of Sifla wallowing in her helplessness instead of helping both kings of Cat-Sith and Cu-Sith when they need each other most.
True to her fears, when Sifla the 1st's spirit approaches them, Akko watches Feoras bitterly express his desire to become the all-powerful fairy king who shall subjugate Coin-Sith along with the rest of the fairies of Doras Hill and silence those who question him, which angers Alan who wanted the same power to reason with his friend. Sifla the 1st is exasperated by this and instead turns them into mindless monsters who fight each other. The two dangerously bring their fight to the entrance of Doras Hill, prompting Finnelan to evacuate everyone. It is when Akko informs her friends, Ursula, and Diana who reluctantly join them in stopping the chaos what must be done to save Feoras and Alan despite Diana arguing otherwise. Using a special panacea Sucy concocted in conjunction with Stellar Purge Spell Akko and Sifla cast together and the magic of moonlight from willow bracelets on their hands, they successfully restored Feoras and Alan back to normal.
After their restoration and some words from Diana in the light of the mess she caused, Feoras and Alan finally not only reunite with the current Sifla but also make amends with one another. Their reconciliation impressed Sifla the 1st as the trio is now able to work together as one, becoming the true Fairy King themselves. With this, along with the rediscovery of the truth pertaining to the mythical Sifla and Fairy King of Doras Hill, it's certain that the current Sifla, Feoras, and Alan will make significant changes to Doras Hill for the better.
Trivia[]
- The absence of the fairy king of Doras Hill appeared to coincide with the end of the Golden Age of Magic in which its inhabitants started to lose their way — a situation paralleled to that of older, proud magical families in the magic community. In fact, both are even too proud and conservative to try to improve their ways and are unable to keep up with changing times as the result.
