The Luna Alphabet is a system of phonetic orthography learned by ancient witches who studied it from the moon and stars. Its graphemes are the phases of the moon, and as an alphabet, they represent phonemes of the spoken word, unlike standard Japanese orthography but like Japanese Hiragana.

It is one of the languages taught in Luna Nova Magical Academy in the Magic Linguistics class.

In "Chariot of Fire" it is revealed that knowledge of this ancient writing has been largely forgotten, and very few witches are now able to read it in the Luna Alphabet. Witches explicitly shown to do so:

Trivia

• The Luna Alphabet was possibly inspired the Moon-runes in Tolkien's mythology, at least in name. Otherwise they bear no similarity in glyph shape.
