Toumei na Tsubasa (透明な翼 Transparent Wings) is the ending theme of the second cour of the Little Witch Academia anime. The song is performed by Yuiko Ōhara, the same singer who composed the first cour's ending theme, Hoshi Wo Tadoreba. Along with the opening theme Mind Conductor by YURiKA, it was released in CD format on May 24, 2017 in Japan, with a cost of ¥1296.[1]

Being the ending theme for the second cour, the song was heard from "New Age Magic" to "The Road to Arcturus", stopping before the series finale, "Tree of Leaves", where the ending theme of the first cour, Hoshi Wo Tadoreba, was played instead.

Lyrics[]

English (translated) Japanese Romaji

With this brand-new spell I just learned,
There aren't any dreams I can really fulfill.
But I'm aiming even higher with my imagination!
My heart takes flight, dancing through the air.

I abandon this tiny shell again and again.
I won't let things end in a frantic mess...
I've got to surpass who I was yesterday!

If I can flap these transparent wings,
I get the feeling I could get closer
To the tomorrow I desire.
Piecing together the fragments of starry sky I find,
I want to know so much more—I'll keep chasing my dreams!

The things we're searching for are always in the most unassuming places.
Just like the light that was lit
By your words.

I'll take a stand against this hesitant future.
I'm not one to just play tough—
It's time to release the power I've been gathering!

Drifting through the sky I've been trying to grasp,
I'm seeking a dream beyond my imagination.
But I've already determined my destination!
Separating myself from the boring lines
That define what's proper
I'll hitch a ride upon a faithful wind!

I've been clinging to my happiness... my pain... all of it.
Because I don't want to lose them
Amid the dazzling light.

I can flap these transparent wings!
I'll make my brightly shining dreams rain down
Proving that I can light the way forward!
Piecing together the fragments of starry sky I find,
I want to know so much more—I'll keep chasing my dreams![2]

Trivia[]

  • Masanobu Hiraoka, who responsible for animation of ending sequence of the TV Series's second cour which accompanied by this song, chose to depict changes in the world around Akko along with her transformations all seemingly symbolized the end of her dreams (an indirect nod to events of the series' four-parter finale). The end result is of course, a music video one cannot watch without being deeply moved.[3][4]
