Little Witch Academia Wiki

Vampires are a type of Undead that sparsely mentioned in Little Witch Academia series. Much of their lore has yet to be explored until this point, let alone survival status and whether they were affected by the decay of Magic throughout the world as much as witches and wizards do prior to Yggdrasil's restoration. Nevertheless, they are among well-known magical beings thanks to their various portrayals in popular culture, most notably in Night Fall series which featured one, Edgar, as one of the protagonists.

Description[]

Possibly on the same vein with their mythical accounts, vampires are deceased humans revived by a contagious curse. As with revenants, they retain their intelligence, memories, and sense of self in life upon reanimation, but are plagued by bloodthirst — they must periodically consume blood both as sustenance and to maintain their sanity in their undeath state. Other changes upon the transformation include pale skin and fangs, vampires' most distinct trait which allows them to feed. The same goes for mortals who ended up contracted vampirism, but the symptoms supposedly can be cured with proper procedures.

Powers and Abilities[]

Upon their reanimation/conversion, vampires are supposedly endowed with supernaturally enhanced physiology that includes enhanced strength, speed, and regeneration to the point of being virtually immortal as long as their heart and spinal column remain intact (beheading and severe damage on heart typically via. staking are fatal to vampires); and special abilities unique to themselves, most notably dispersing into swarms of bats for quickly transverse through distances and obstacles in addition of enhanced magical capabilities. Lastly, they can convert mortals into another vampires, most likely through introduction of vampire blood into the target's bloodstream instead of bite so as to avoid spreading their mystical affliction like a plague.

However, their unique powers come with a price. Other than bloodthirst, vampires suffer aversion to sunlight (which inflicts mild discomfort as much as nocturnal animals at best and varying degree of burns at worst), silver, garlic, and hawthorn. Should the nature of their vampirism proved to be demonic, vampires in question will also display aversion to religious implements (ex. crosses, holy water, consecrated ground) and lost their reflection in any reflective surface.
